Gender equality and Women Entrepreneurship has undoubtedly been a hot topic in the business world where significant efforts have been made to encourage women’s participation. The notion of women being inferior to men in the business world was brought about by the biological differences between the two genders, however, this same difference is the basis for the now truth that women are more equipped to excel at certain, if not most, roles in a business.
Simple Decor shares this view and puts our utmost efforts in encouraging women to exercise their skills and talents. After all, Simple Decor is also an organization spearheaded by a female entrepreneur – Mrs. Huyen Tran. Currently acting as the CEO of Simple Decor, Mrs. Huyen Tran emphasizes the importance of gender equality in the workplace, and how Simple Decor should approach it.
“Human resource is our strongest advantage and the diversity in our workforce builds up an open organizational culture. Genders, ethnicity, religion, and race are obsolete in our path toward sustainability.”
This is what Simple Decor abides by in our daily practice.
International Trade Center
Pursuing the same cause is the International Trade Center (ITC) – as a multilateral agency joint with WTO (World Trade Organization) and UN (United Nations) through their Conference on Trade and Development.
The ITC focuses support for micro, small to medium-sized enterprises to provide a competitive edge aimed at promoting individuals, communities and countries to escape poverty. Their pursuit follows gender equality, women empowerment, diversity, the inclusion of the disabled and discrimination-free environments.
The ITC provides a range of offers from advisory services, capacity building to training and mentoring. These include free-of-charge analytic tools and business data to ensure tailored support for specific countries and clients.
In more details, the ITC offers the availability and use of trade insights to help exporters in their response to market opportunities. All these in efforts to help small and medium exporters adapt to globalization and expand their reach. Another initiative is their leverage on the global digital momentum. By utilizing e-commerce platforms and artificial intelligence, the ITC provides opportunities and guidance for enterprises to incorporate digital elements into their operations.
Shetrades
The SheTrades initiative aims to tackle the barriers facing women in accessing economic opportunities. Established by the International Trade Center, SheTrades hopes to provide a platform for millions of women entrepreneurs to participate in international trade and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The initiative is set on its trajectory towards the eradication of extreme poverty by 2030. To achieve this, SheTrades aims to address the key challenges namely the persisting silos between the various parties in this area, as well as the substantive components of female-led enterprise development.
Simple Decor is proud to be a member of ITC and the SheTrades initiative toward a non-discriminative business world.
