2. Preserve in Indoor Conditions

Spills should be taken care of immediately before they harden or stain, by wiping with a sponge wrung from sudsy water. If you spot mold or mildew growing on your rattan furniture, simply clean with warm soapy water. Then, rinse well and dry it outdoors.

To restore dry, cracked, or split rattan, apply boiled linseed oil with a brush. When the furniture won’t absorb any more oil, wipe it clean with a soft cloth. Allow it to dry or harden before using the furniture piece.

3.1. Wear wax

Apply a thin coat of furniture wax to preserve rattan products. Furniture wax gives added protection from the elements and dust. As a rattan manufacturer, you should protect your products in this way because it helps keep products looking like new all-time and you can store them for many years as well.  

3.2. Kill mold and germs

Use an antiseptic to spray on furniture made of rattan, which can help you kill mold and germs. Toxic organisms are on utensils, destroying the beetles contained in this product.

3.3. Use cleansing tools

Use a microfiber or disposable duster or a vacuum cleaner with an upholstery brush to dust the entire surface of rattan furniture. This will prevent excessive soil build-up in the weaving.

If there is a food stain, drink spill, or muddy paw prints on the rattan, they should be cleaned away as soon as possible. Do not try to rub away these stains because that will push the matter deeper into the woven fibers.

If there are solids involved, use a spoon or dull knife to lift them away from the rattan. Once the solids are removed, use a damp microfiber cloth to wipe down the area and allow the rattan to air-dry.

Use a toothbrush to help loosen solids or other stains that have dried onto the rattan. Then, dampen a microfiber cloth and put just a drop of dishwashing liquid on the cloth. Wipe down the stained area. Follow up with a cloth dampened with fresh water and allow the area to air-dry.
